Coming Soon: Citirati!
New York has a long and impressive history as a lit-loving city, from the Harlem Renaissance to the Beats to some of todays most respected contemporary authors. Norman Mailer, Walt Whitman, Barbara Garson, Don DeLillo, Jhumpa Lahiri, Jonathan Safran Foer, Jonathan Lethem, Thomas Pynchon, Nora Ephron, Herman Melville, Langston Hughes: New York has been the home of all these writers and more. It's also been the inspiration for some of our most beloved books including The Bonfire of the Vanities, The Great Gatsby, and The House of Mirth.
At Citirati we want to help keep that great New York literary tradition alive. We want to be your source for literary events in New York: readings, book signings, open mics and more. We will also occasionally bring you reviews of New York bookstores which will hopefully encourage you to keep those institutions alive with your patronage.
We are still in production on this blog but please check back soon to find out about all the great literary events our city has to offer.
Thanks,
Citirati
